So I finally found some sardana dancing here in Barcelona. The sardana is a Catalonian circle dance that has been popular since the 16th century. It was as if the people dancing had been with it since the beginning. On the one hand it is nice to see the elderly community getting together and celebrating their culture but the lack of young people joining in seems to me to mean that it is a dying art. I asked the woman who was walking around with a little wicker basket looking for donations about the group. Supposedly they come every Saturday at 7:30 to dance in front of the Catedral in the Gothic Quarter.
