I went to the Independent Magazine Festival today. It was not good. Basically, I paid seven euros to sit in a trendy-looking lounge with lots of trendy people. I was much more interested in what was going on outside of the CCCB. There is a long wall that runs along one side of the building that is famous for graffiti but just a few blocks away and down a little side street there is a plaza that is completely dominated by it.

It was especially interesting for me because I am familiar with the work of the artist whose work appears below. He does portraits of local people who have been displaced because of major urban development projects. He is applying for residency at the community art center where I work.
