Hopped on the 24 and ate lunch at the Park Guell during one of the nicest weather days I've had here. I couldn't think of a better place to spend some time outside. Something tells me this won't be the last time...

La Pedrera
Gaudi's modernista apartment building known as La Pedrera-- a nickname meaning "the stone quarry"-- is a very crazy place.
It is a bit paranoia-inducing on the famous roof because you feel like you are always being watched.
But it is beautiful.
Instead of buying an "I climbed La Pedrera" T-shirt in the gift shop, I managed to snap this picture of myself to add some validity to the claims that I did indeed climb La Pedrera and that I do take every photo on this site myself. So here I am, freckled and happy.
After Sant Juan
Last night was the festival of Sant Juan, a celebration of the summer solstice. It seemed as though everyone-- the young, the old, the very, very young-- was out at Barceloneta beach all night watching fireworks and eating the sweet bread with candied fruit (coca de Sant Juan) made special for the day. Although I didn't take any pictures last night for fear of losing my camera, I did manage to capture the aftermath which is essentially the quietest day I have experienced in this city.
All of the stores may be closed and the sidewalks empty, but the Sagrada Familia still looks as vibrant/crazy/fantastic as ever.

I'm not doing so bad, am I? Just discovered the rooftop pool yesterday. It's pretty small so it makes more sense to say you're 'going for a dip' rather than a swim but all the same, it's nice.
